Bridgend Council – Be Aware: Weather warning upgraded for Storm Henk

bridgend-council-news

As Storm Henk hits much of the United Kingdom, Bridgend County Borough council’s Highways team have once again been working tirelessly to make sure all roads are safe and clear of debris. There is an Amber weather warning in place for ‘strong winds’ until 8pm as well as a yellow warning for rain. The alert covers the whole of South Wales.

Crews have been responding to reports of fallen trees at various locations throughout the county borough and swift arrangements were made for all the debris to be removed.

There have also been around 70 reports of flooding and workers have been inspecting and clearing drains and culverts to try and minimise the risk of any disruption.

New Inn Road (Merthyr Mawr) is currently closed due to high river levels and flooded carriageways.

The Met Office are advising the public to not travel unless absolutely necessary and are highlighting the risk of flying debris, damage to buildings and disruption to travel.

For more information about the weather warning, please visit the Met Office website. Residents can also report any issues to the council via the digital ‘My Account’ service.
