Bridgend Mayor pays tribute to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, 1921 – 2021
Following yesterday’s announcement from Buckingham Palace on the death of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Cllr Kenneth Watts issued a statement.
The Mayor said: “It is with great sadness to hear of the death of Prince Philip this morning.
“On behalf of the people of Bridgend county borough, we send our heartfelt sympathies to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal family.
“Throughout his life, the Duke of Edinburgh served the crown with selfless devotion and a true generosity of spirit, and he has left a lasting legacy in the many organisations that he supported as Patron and President.”
The flags on Bridgend’s civic building will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect and further announcements will follow.
