In a twist to this weekend’s expected line up at Super League Triathlon’s SLT Arena Games event in London, the UK 70.3 Ironman distance record holder, Adam Bowden, who has put in a string of strong performances in the Zwift Pro Series, will take to the start line after a spot became available.

Currently living in Rhondda Cynon Taff, Adam more recently moved to longer distance racing, but has recently enjoyed returning to the shorter virtual racing format and jumped at the chance to go up against some the best short course athletes in the world. He said; “It’s been a lot of fun racing virtually, and I’m really looking forward to getting together this weekend to benchmark where I am against this great field, racing shoulder to shoulder in this unique format. It has been a challenging year for everybody, but I’m feeling great and ready to push hard at the event with my eye on a podium spot this weekend.”

This weekend will see Super League Triathlon return for the first time in 2021 as the SLT Arena Games Powered by Zwift comes to London. The event will host big names such as Olympic medallist, Jonathan Brownlee and 2020 Triathlon World Champion, Georgia Taylor-Brown stepping up their preparation for this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo and long course stars such as Lucy Charles-Barclay and Tim Don testing themselves at a much shorter distance.

The SLT Arena Games is a blend of in real life and virtual racing that sees athletes pushed to the limit over three fast and furious races that include elements of eSports thanks to Super League Triathlon’s pioneering partnership with Zwift.

“It’s a great way to bring everyone together safely whilst we are still coming out of the pandemic,” adds Bowden. “It’s over a shorter distance than I normally race, so it’s going to be fast and intense racing, and I intend to be right there in the leading pack.”

Racing takes place from 3pm-5pm local time this Saturday live on the BBC red button and online, with post-race analysis from expert pundits and participants via the new ‘Short Chute Show’ immediately after the live broadcast on Super League Triathlon’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/c/SuperLeagueTriathlon).

Adam is supported in 2021 by Wattbike makers of world class indoor sport trainers, Hoka One One running Shoes, Zone 3 wetsuits, Ribble bikes, Santini Cycling and Triathlon clothing, One2One Therapy physiotherapy and sport injury prevention, Precision Hydration and Rudy Project helmets and eyewear.
