BUNGALOWS accounted for just 1% of homes built in the UK over the last decade but they account for 100% of the first phase of a new garden village in North Swansea.

Figures from the NHBC show that there’s been a shift away from building bungalows over the last 30 years, dropping from 14% of new builds in 1989 to just 2% of homes built last year.

Independent homebuilder Edenstone Homes is bucking the trend at Parc Ceirw Garden Village in Morriston. The first phase of 28 homes has just launched and is exclusively comprised of bungalows.

Sales director Adele McCoy said: “Addressing the housing shortage isn’t just about building more houses, it’s about ensuring we provide homes people want to live in. Bungalows are in short supply – they account for just 1% of homes built over the last decade. Many of those will have been part of retirement developments or built specifically for people with mobility issues.

“We recognise that there’s a demand for new build bungalows on the open market. With that in mind all 28 homes in the first phase of Parc Ceirw Garden Village are bungalows, with four different layouts available.”

Parc Ceirw Garden Village will eventually comprise circa 300 homes across 35 acres.

The new neighbourhood will also include a community park featuring a play area, kick about area, woodland and nature trail.  A new community hub building, external amphitheatre, electric car charging facilities and gym equipment will also be provided for residents to enjoy.

The two and three-bedroom bungalows in the initial phase of the development enjoy views over neighbouring Morriston Golf Club.

Priced from £184,995 to £309,995, the properties are currently being sold off plan, with a show home due to open in early 2020.

A second phase will be marketed as Bluebell Homes. Between the two brands, both part of the Edenstone Group, there will be a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes to choose from.

“Purchasing a property before it’s physically built means that you can personalise it right from the start,” Adele added.

“Our sales team will be happy to guide you through the different floor plans and specification choices available so that you can truly make your home your own.”

Edenstone offers a premium range of traditional and contemporary style kitchens in its homes. The specification includes stainless steel ovens and induction hobs, integrated dishwashers and fridge freezers; while bathrooms and en-suites feature contemporary Roca sanitary ware and ceramic wall tiling by Porcelanosa.

The information centre at Parc Ceirw Garden Village, on Enfield Close off Brodorion Drive, Morriston, is open daily from 10.30am to 5pm.
