Business group takes on challenge for charity

A successful hybrid business networking group, based in Merthyr Tydfil and online, are gearing up for a Spring time challenge in aid of charity.
Members of BNI Beacons are gearing up for an extraordinary challenge this May to support Tenovus Cancer Care, their chosen charity for the year.
The team will tackle the iconic Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, with a goal to ascend and descend it ten times in just 24 hours as part of “10 Y Fan”.
Scaling New Heights for Charity
Pen Y Fan, located in the stunning Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, stands at an impressive 886 meters (2,906 feet) above sea level. Climbing it once is a challenging achievement, but completing the journey ten times equates to a staggering total ascent of 8,860 meters — roughly the height of Mount Everest.
The group’s ambitious challenge underscores their dedication to supporting Tenovus Cancer Care, a charity that provides vital support and services to those affected by cancer in Wales and beyond.
Sarah Pritchard, a key member of BNI Beacons, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “This is not just a test of physical endurance but also a testament to the strength of our chapter’s commitment to giving back to the community.
“We’re incredibly proud to support Tenovus and hope our efforts inspire others to contribute to this incredible cause.”
A Team Effort
The challenge brings together a diverse team of business professionals, including members of BNI Beacons:
● Sarah Pritchard, Paul Rodriguez Wealth Management, offering tailored financial advice.
● Mathew and Siân Morris-Parker of Roseblade Media, specialists in web design and marketing.
● Oliver Cann of ORCA Will Writers, providing expert will-writing services.
● Gareth John of Morgan Financial Solutions, offering mortgage advice.
● Tom James of Valleys Valeting Wales, renowned for professional vehicle valeting services.
● Gemma Doyle of Madola Energy, working with businesses and home owners offering tailored solar power solutions.
Each member brings their unique energy and determination to the challenge, with the collective aim of raising funds and awareness for Tenovus Cancer Care.
The team have been preparing to conquer not only the physical demands of the climb but also the unpredictable weather conditions of Bannau Brycheiniog.
Supporting Tenovus Cancer Care
Tenovus Cancer Care has been a lifeline for countless families, offering support, advice, and treatment closer to home.
Funds raised through this challenge will help the charity continue its vital work, from providing mobile support units to funding ground-breaking research and community programs.
Sarah Pritchard emphasised the importance of community involvement, saying, “Every step we take up Pen Y Fan is for those whose lives have been touched by cancer. We hope our efforts encourage others to donate and help Tenovus make a difference where it’s needed most.”
How You Can Help
The team is calling on the community to get involved by donating, sharing their story, or even joining them for a single ascent of Pen Y Fan on the day.
