Caerphilly CBC to reconsider pitch fee increase
The Leader of Caerphilly county borough council has announced that a planned price increase for the hire of sports pitches and pavilions is to be reconsidered.
The price increase was agreed as part of the council’s 2025/26 budget and was due to be implemented from April 1 2025.
Cllr Sean Morgan said, “We received minimal feedback about these proposals during our budget consultation, but the implementation has caused great concern among clubs.”
“This shows just how important it is for residents, clubs and organisations to be involved in consultations, as we have shown repeatedly that consultations do help us shape our decision making.”
“We recognise from the emerging feedback that the increased costs could have a significant impact on grassroots sport across the borough, so we have agreed to pause the implementation while we further explore the proposals with clubs and work through the financial considerations as we look at different approaches.”
“We will update the community in due course about the way forward.”
