Karla Harding from Caerphilly had been unemployed for 8 years, and struggled to find work which fit around her childcare commitments.

Her jobsearch was made more difficult by lockdown restrictions during the pandemic. In July 2021, mother-of-two Karla, 35, joined the JETS Wales employment programme, delivered by Remploy.

After indicating that she was interested in working as a teaching assistant, her Employment Advisor enrolled her in a Teaching Assistant course delivered through the Digital College, and provided interview coaching and support.

Soon after completing the course, Karla was referred to the Prospero Teaching agency, and since February has had regular work as a teaching assistant at a local school.

Talking about her experience with JETS Wales, Karla said;

“The programme enabled me to access all the relevant information to overcome any hurdles into work. JETS point you in the right direction and supports you every step of the way”.
