Unpaid carers are reminded that there are still spaces available for Halo Leisure’s Parent Carers Respite Programme, which is free of charge thanks to support from Bridgend County Borough Council’s Carers Respite grant.

It’s also currently World Autism Acceptance Week and the council and its partners recognise the importance of providing health and wellbeing opportunities for parents/carers who are unpaid carers.

Halo’s Carers Respite Programme offers parent carers the opportunity to improve their physical and mental wellbeing by participating in exercise, relaxation and nutrition information sessions.

The next programme takes place every Tuesday from 9 April until 14 May 2024 at Maesteg Sports Centre (10am-12 noon).

The programme includes:

  • Low impact exercise
  • Free use of the health suite
  • Nutrition advice from a qualified nutritionist
  • Information on carers rights, entitlements and support system.

More information and sign-up details are available on Halo’s website.
