Cardiff is one of the best UK cities to get a pay rise in right now, according to new job market data
Do you want to secure a higher paying job before the festive period? According to the latest job market report from CV-Library, the UK’s leading independent job board, average salaries for new roles in Cardiff have risen by an impressive 13.9% year-on-year.
Indeed, the findings, which analysed job market data from October 2019 and compared it with findings from the same period last year, found that Cardiff experienced one of the largest surges in pay amongst major cities, with the list including:
- Brighton – pay up 38.8%
- Edinburgh – pay up 30.7%
- Portsmouth – pay up 16%
- Cardiff – pay up 13.9%
- Glasgow – pay up 12.3%
What’s more, the data also found that job vacancies have risen by a steady 3.6% year-on-year, meaning there are plenty of opportunities for professionals in the Welsh capital.
Lee Biggins, founder and CEO of CV-Library, comments:
“It seems that the Conservative government has finally reached the end of its tether with Brexit and with the deadline now being pushed back to 2020, there’s no point in holding out on your job search.
“The fact that vacancies are on the rise suggests that employers are confident in their hiring plans and are keen to bring on board talented candidates to their company. So, if you’re considering looking for a new job in Cardiff, you should take this opportunity while pay is rising and the market is strong!”
The increase in jobs and pay hasn’t gone unnoticed by the city’s job hunters, as applications rose by 13.3% last month. In fact, Cardiff saw the fifth highest rise in applications amongst major cities in the UK.
Biggins continues:
“While the salary and jobs boom may be incredibly enticing, you must watch out for increased competition from likeminded job hunters. As the clock ticks down on 2019, competition for jobs will likely remain high for several months, so the quality of your application is paramount!”
