2019 is already off to a promising start for growing fintech and finance recruitment specialists, Cardiff-based Vargo Recruitment.

The company, who saw executive recruitment specialist Tom Miller join the Vargo Board in late 2018, has now expanded the team again thanks to the key acquisition of senior IT recruitment expert Ian Blackburn, who joins the company as Associate Director.

The drive towards digital transformation means that Finance and HR professionals are increasingly finding themselves recruiting for IT and technology roles.

With experience in recruiting permanent, temporary, contract and fixed term roles, Ian’s unique experience extends the capabilities of this rapidly growing boutique recruitment business, enabling Vargo to add Technology and IT recruitment to their expanding portfolio.

Ian has extensive knowledge of the IT sector, and has experience in sourcing talent for some of the hardest-to-fill job roles in the UK, including:

  • Software Engineering
  • Cloud / DevOps
  • Cyber & Information Security
  • Data Science & Analytics
  • Executive Search

Vargo was founded in 2016 by Chris Chugg, a consultant with more than ten years experience recruiting across a range of sectors and business sizes, from steadfast FTSE 100 companies to burgeoning SMEs.

Welcoming Ian to the company, Chris Chugg said:

“I’m delighted to have Ian on board with his wealth of experience across technology recruitment.

“With so many operational areas becoming increasingly technology focused such as Fintech, Regtech and Insuretech it is key that Vargo builds strong networks within these areas to service our clients.

“Also, with Ian’s ability to manage and grow recruitment teams I’m excited to see how much Vargo is going to develop and grow over the coming years.”

Ian said:

“Vargo are genuinely more than ‘just another recruiter’, they really understand the needs of both the stakeholder and the candidate and look to add value at every stage of the recruitment process.  It’s a refreshing approach and I am absolutely delighted to be part of their expansion into the IT recruitment sector.”
