Chief Nursing Officer for Wales praises Sancta Maria Hospital for excellent care

Sancta Maria Hospital in Swansea was delighted to welcome the Chief Nursing Officer for Wales to see its excellent care in practice and discuss the independent sector’s role in supporting the NHS.

Sue Tranka visited the hospital’s outpatient and day patient unit, the Radiology department and theatres, where she spoke with members of staff about the range of services and care provided.

Ms Tranka was impressed by the hospital facilities, the professionalism of the staff, and the commitment to improving patient outcomes.

The visit was hosted by the hospital’s leadership team. Tracy Ace, Head of Clinical Services at Sancta Maria, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Chief Nursing Officer to Sancta Maria. She recognised the value that the independent healthcare sector brings to the wider care system, which was hugely encouraging. We are grateful for her support in helping to raise the profile of nurses in our sector, and we’re excited about the opportunities for greater collaboration moving forward.”

Ms Tranka added: “I was pleased to visit Sancta Maria Hospital and see first-hand the innovative care available to patients and the way the hospital team uses patient feedback to make impactful changes to their service delivery.”

Sancta Maria Hospital is run by the Healthcare Management Trust and provides treatments and procedures for a range of specialists including orthopaedics, cardiology, gynaecology and gastroenterology. The hospital recently celebrated its exceptional performance in a recent Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) inspection, which praised the hospital for its outstanding patient care, safe and effective environment, and positive workplace culture.
