Pudsey Bear will be visiting St David’s Cardiff next week offering gamers a chance to compete on live television.

The Children in Need challenge at the city shopping centre will invite sim racing drivers to set their best lap time on a virtual Silverstone circuit on EA Sports’ F1 23 game, cheered along by the iconic Pudsey Bear.

The Children in Need Sim Rig Tour is visiting locations across the UK hunting for the nation’s fastest sim racers and will be at St David’s Cardiff on Monday, October 16, from 9am until 5pm. The fastest 50 drivers will go into a ballot with two winners selected to race on the live Children in Need show on November 10. Participants can make a donation to BBC Children in Need when taking part, which will go on to benefit young lives across the UK. Racers must be aged 16 and over and there is no need to pre book.

Helen Morgan, Centre Director of St David’s Cardiff, commented: “We’re excited to host the Children in Need Sim Rig challenge with Pudsey Bear at St David’s. We hope as many gamers as possible come down to compete for their chance to be on live television and support such a fantastic charity.”

Across the UK, Children in Need is funding many charities who are using video games to help support children and young people through various challenges that they may be facing. There are many benefits to responsible gaming, such as its power to unite people through play, its potential to boost creativity and offer escapism, as well as encouraging skills in problem solving, co-ordination and fine motor skills.

Tommy Nagra, Director of Content at BBC Children in Need says: “We’re thrilled to be launching this brand new venture to unite gamers up and down the country to help raise money for BBC Children in Need. We will be celebrating the potential of gaming to highlight how we can unite new audiences through play and show the positive impact that gaming can have. We hope that lots of gaming fans will get involved!”
