Chinese New Year at the Red Dragon Centre (002)

To celebrate Chinese New Year, the Red Dragon Centre hosted a special afternoon of free, traditional Chinese New Year activities to ring in the Year of the Rabbit.

The Cardiff Confucius Institute held a variety of workshops including lantern making, paper cutting, calligraphy and even a chopsticks technique competition.

Visitors were also surprised by a traditional Chinese Lion and balloon art from Dr Bob, which took pride of place in the mall.

The Cardiff Confucius Institute helps share Chinese culture and language in Wales, as well as supporting collaboration between Wales and China.

Dr Catherine Chabert, Executive Director of Cardiff Confucius Institute said: “It was so lovely to return to the Red Dragon Centre where we have had many happy Chinese New Year celebrations over the years, and this year was no exception. The Year of the Rabbit was rung in with a joyous celebration, and we loved sharing the festivities with everyone who joined.”

Emma Constantinou, Marketing Manager at Red Dragon Centre, said: “It was great to see the return of our Chinese New Year celebrations with the Cardiff Confucius Institute, and to see so many people taking part in such a beautiful celebration.”
