Consultation opens for Ruthin-based Levelling Up projects

A public consultation is now open to gather people’s views on a number of UK Government Levelling Up funded projects within Ruthin.

On the 19th of January, 2023 Denbighshire Council received confirmation that they had secured £10.95m from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund for the Clwyd West constituency to support the development of 10 projects aimed at protecting Ruthin’s unique heritage, wellbeing and rural communities. The proposals were supported by the constituency MP David Jones and local elected members.

Denbighshire County Council is now consulting the public on various matters relating to 3 of the projects taking place within Ruthin, namely for their St Peter’s Square, Market Street and Cae Ddol projects.

The consultation will also provide information about the renovation of the St. Peter’s Square Clock Tower.

People have the opportunity to share their views via the Council’s County Conversations portal until 12th May 2024.

Emlyn Jones, Denbighshire County Council’s Head of Planning, Public Protection and Countryside Services, said: “We are pleased to be able to provide the public with an opportunity to have their say on some of our Ruthin-based Clwyd West Levelling Up projects.

“Those who wish to take part in the consultation will have the opportunity to learn more about what the projects are proposing to deliver and share their views on various issues relating to the different projects to help us ensure that what we deliver through these projects reflects local thinking. People will also have the opportunity to raise any concerns that they might have about the projects which our Project Teams will take into consideration for the project delivery.

“We are keen to hear from as many people as possible and I would encourage local people to take part in this consultation to help us ensure that our projects are fit for purpose for Ruthin.”

In addition to the online consultation, a number of drop-in consultation events will also be held for people to have their say, as well as workshops with year 7 pupils at Ysgol Brynhyfryd and with young people at the local Youth Club.
