Could you help Maggie find a home of her own?

West Wales Poundies, an animal rescue charity in Carmarthenshire is putting out an appeal for one of their longest standing residents.

Pretty little Maggie has been in kennels for 3 years now, and nobody can understand why.

Maggie is a 6 year old Staffie/Sharpei Cross, and is much loved by staff and volunteers at the shelter.

A big bundle of alertness and energy, Maggie loves to walk, both with other dogs and with volunteers, who describe her as ‘a real little livewire with some very comical ways!’

Maggie will thrive with an active owner who likes long walks and company and will also need to be the only pet in the home.  She cannot live with cats or very young children, but would make the ideal pet for an active older family who like outdoor adventures.

Could you be Maggie’s perfect match?

The rescue, like most in Wales, is full to bursting at the moment, and is presently having to turn down animals in need, so finding Maggie a home will also help the Charity to help other animals in need.

However, if you have space in your heart and home, even if Maggie isn’t your ‘pawfect fit’, you can check out other dogs looking for a home here: https://www.westwalespoundies.org.uk/dogs

Every pet rehomed frees up a space for another dog in urgent need of a rescue space.

Donations Also Needed

The rescue is also in desperate need of donations to help with big vet bills, often for animals who owners have dumped knowing they can’t afford the bill.  Rescue founder Leanne explains:

“We were founded to stop healthy dogs being put to sleep – but often we accept dogs from the pound in dire need of urgent treatment, dumped by their owners.  Many of these dogs can, if treated, go on to live a long healthy life, but their owners have decided to abandon them instead.

“We will always help where we can, but of course this costs money and as more animals are being dumped across the UK, the vet bill for rescues has increased significantly – and that’s on top of us facing the same cost of living crisis everyone is dealing with, rising fuel bills, rising energy costs and rising food costs.  We rely heavily on donations and if any of your readers can spare anything, no matter how small, we would be really grateful.”
