Council prepares to relaunch school breakfast clubs
Free primary school breakfast clubs are being relaunched at all primary schools in Bridgend County Borough.
The council and schools are working closely together on the reopening of free breakfast provision at primary schools once risk assessments have been carried out and controls are in place to protect staff and pupils.
The local authority began piloting free breakfast provision in one school at the start of the term and is applying lessons learned from this pilot scheme.
While it is unlikely that all breakfast clubs will be open for several weeks yet, the council is hopeful that some will open as soon as possible from 14 September onwards.
Individual schools will communicate the arrangements for the reopening of their breakfast clubs to parents and carers in due course.
Councillor Dr Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “I know that parents and carers will be anxious to make use of free breakfast provision, and I am grateful for their ongoing patience in this matter. The safety of staff and pupils is always our highest priority.”
