Deeside-based sustainable construction celebrates success with host of successful projects
Deeside-based sustainable construction innovators Dura Products has announced it has completed a number of new high profile client projects in the last few months, culminating in the installation of its product at the UK’s largest drive-thru of Canadian donut chain, Tim Hortons.
The company’s pioneering kerbside drainage product, Duradrainwill enable the fast food outlet to improve its sustainability strategy, in which it claims to have “an obligation to address climate change head on”. This includes, by 2030, pledging to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% and “develop, formalize and incorporate green building standards into new build and remodelled restaurants.”
In addition to Tim Hortons, the local business has also recently completed a number of other high profile projects over the past year. Duradrain was also installed as part of the €241 million N5 upgrade project, in County Mayo, Ireland – the biggest single infrastructural investment ever undertaken in the county, while the company’s flagship product Durakerbwas installed at Thames Tideway’s Barn Elms site -– a key location for the construction of London’s ‘super sewer’ – in December last year, and at the UK’s first net-zero restaurant – a McDonald’s outlet in Market Drayton, Shropshire.
Dura Products, based in Deeside, Flintshire, has long been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to green construction, since its flagship product, Durakerb, a lightweight kerb solution made from 88% recycled plastic content, entered the market in 2003. Each of its three products, in addition to being created out of high recycled plastic content and having low carbon outputs, require little energy use during transportation and installation, thanks to its lightweight composition. It also has unlimited end-of-life potential as each unit can be reused, recycled and carbon recovered.
Commenting on the contract, Steve Bennett, Managing Director of Dura Products said: “This year has been our biggest and busiest on record. It’s been especially notable for the number of high profile installations of Dura Products across the country, the latest, this drive-thru for Canada’s largest quick-service restaurant chain. We are delighted that Dura Products continue to be seen as the go-to sustainable kerb and kerbside drainage solutions providers, for both multinational corporations and local councils, thanks to our sustainability credentials.”
