Delfryn Lodge Hosts Successful Red Nose Day Silly Hat Party

Delfryn

Cygnet Delfryn Lodge was filled with laughter, music, and vibrant colours last week as staff and patients came together for a memorable Red Nose Day Silly Hat Party.

Organised by Activity Coordinators Lisa Kettle and Joe Morgan, the event was held to raise funds for Comic Relief.

Cygnet Delfryn Lodge, on Argoed Hall Lane, Mold, in Flintshire, is part of the Cygnet Health Care division and is a 24-bed high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for women who have severe and enduring mental illness.

Patients and staff collaborated to prepare decorations and baked delicious cupcakes for a bake sale held on Thursday. They were also encouraged to embrace the event’s “silly hat” theme, wearing the most imaginative and quirky hats they could find.

After much laughter and deliberation, the joint winners of the Silliest Hat Competition were announced as two patients, Sarah Ridgway and Jane Morris, proudly sporting a fluffy swan hat and an elephant hat.

The celebration kicked off with patients enthusiastically decorating the lodge with bright red bunting and balloon clusters. The highlight of the day was the lively disco and karaoke session hosted by DJ Daf from Gifted Workshops CIC.

Guests also participated in classic party games, including a “Guess the Jelly Beans” contest. The Prize Pong Game was a hit, with patients aiming to bounce red ping pong balls into cups to win chocolates, sweets, and sensory fidget toys.

Activity Co-ordinator Joe Morgan said: “The joyful atmosphere was contagious, with both staff and patients donning their best silly hats, bright colours, and, of course, their iconic red noses. One patient enthusiastically shared, “It was so much fun, especially the baking and the party itself. I loved singing on the karaoke. Everyone loved it!”

Thanks to the collective efforts and generosity of everyone involved, £61.50 was raised for Comic Relief.

Joe added: “The party was a brilliant day and the atmosphere was great.”
