Staff at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have successfully raised an impressive £29,000 for their 2024 Charity of Choice, Alzheimer’s Society. This marks the second time the organization has been chosen since DVLA began its annual charity initiative in 2014, aiming to support research and provide assistance for those affected by one of the UK’s most significant health and social challenges.

The fundraising efforts included a variety of events such as sponsored runs, football matches, choir performances, and cake sales. Highlights of the year included a sold-out choir concert and a Christmas fayre in Swansea, where the final total was revealed in the presence of DVLA staff and representatives from Alzheimer’s Society.

DVLA’s Interim Chief Executive, Lynette Rose, praised the staff’s commitment, stating:
“Every year, DVLA staff at both our Swansea and Birmingham sites vote for a new Charity of Choice, and every year I am amazed by their generosity and kindness in supporting such worthy causes.”

Jess Bowring, Regional Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society, expressed the charity’s gratitude:
“We are so grateful to DVLA staff for all their fundraising support this year. Every single event and pound raised will help fund Alzheimer’s Society’s vital services, including our expert dementia advisers, who provide advice and practical guidance to help individuals and families during some of the most challenging times in their lives.”

The cheque was officially presented to Alzheimer’s Society at the DVLA Christmas fayre on 11 December. During the event, DVLA also announced that its staff have selected the MND Association as their Charity of Choice for 2025, continuing their tradition of supporting impactful causes.
