EDENSTONE has committed to providing life-saving resources for the communities in which it operates.

To date the housebuilding group has provided six defibrillators in or near to its new homes’ developments, with additional funding also being provided to support the provision of equipment further afield

The company, with its two housing brands, Edenstone Homes and Bluebell Homes, has made the investment to help in the event of an emergency.

Defibrillators deliver a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. It’s an essential part in trying to save the life of someone who’s in cardiac arrest and needs to be found as quickly as possible. For every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival lower.

Edenstone, with offices in Magor and Portishead, has provided two defibrillators in Ross-on-Wye, one outside the sports centre and one at its Bluebell Homes sales office, which will eventually be moved to a new community centre on the development.

In Gloucestershire, defibrillators have been provided at River View Garden Village in Lydney and Trinity Quarter in Brockworth. In South Wales, one was gifted to Lisvane Community Hall, near to the Beaufort Park and Beaufort Gardens development; with another installed at the Parc Ceirw Garden development in Morriston.

Edenstone operations director Chris Edge explained: “Providing defibrillators at our developments and in the wider communities in which we operate is part of our commitment to being a responsible housebuilder and means we can potentially help in the event of an emergency. The defibrillators are stored in locked cabinets in prime locations and can be accessed using a code obtained by calling 999. There’s no training required as the device gives instructions, checks the heart rhythm of the casualty, and will advise if a shock is needed. The defibrillators we’ve provided could save lives, but we of course hope they don’t have to be used.”
