Extension work progressing well at Ysgol Penmorfa

Councillor Gill German and Integrated Families First and Flying Start Programme Manager Jan Juckes-Hughes recently visited the Ysgol Penmorfa site to see how building work is progressing on the Childcare Facility. The project has been funded by the Welsh Government’s Flying Start Capital Grant.

The work on the extension began in September 2022, following the successful appointment of the building contractor TG Williams.

The extension will increase the capacity of childcare provision allowing more local families to benefit from high quality childcare in Prestatyn. This will make a real difference to the lives of children and families in the area and give children access to learning from a young age. The facility is due to be completed in the spring of 2023.

Councillor Gill German Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Education, Children and Families said:

“The Welsh Government funded Flying Start provision in Denbighshire is vital to support our families and to give our children access to high quality learning and care in early years. This is pivotal to child development. This extension at Ysgol Penmorfa will increase capacity for Flying Start childcare places within the area to extend our current offer. This is fantastic news for the community. I am delighted to see this happen and I am excited for the facility to be completed.”

Families First and Flying Start Programme Manager Jan Juckes-Hughes added:

“I am overjoyed to see the work which has taken place so far on the Extension. These improvements will benefit children and families within the local community”.
