Five site managers from Barratt Developments South Wales recognised at UK construction awards
Last Friday (18 June), five site managers from Barratt Developments South Wales were presented with a Pride in the Job Quality Award 2021 — from the National House-Building Council (NHBC).
Recognised for their outstanding dedication, passion and leadership at their respective sites, the Barratt Developments South Wales Quality Award winners for 2021 are: Kevin Ashcroft – site manager at Hanbury Locks in Pontypool, Shaun Collier – site manager at Waterside at The Quays in Barry, Paul Ellis and Gareth Griffiths – site managers at Scholars Park in Dinas Powys and Kurt Patterson – site manager at Maes Y Deri in Cardiff.
Known as the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”, the NHBC’s Pride in the Job Quality awards recognise the finest site managers from around the country.
In total, Barratt site managers won 93 Pride in the Job Quality awards this year. This is the 17th year in a row that Barratt has won more Pride in the Job Quality awards than any other housebuilder, showing its long-term commitment to building high quality homes.
These awards, now in their 41st year, rate site managers against key criteria such as technical expertise, health and safety, consistency, leadership and attention to detail. The awards celebrate the vital role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on-time, on safe sites, and to the highest quality standards.
Every site manager who is registered with the NHBC is automatically entered into the awards, with just 450 winners being selected from 11,000 entrants.
Shaun Collier, site manager at Waterside at the Quays, Barry, said: “Having only started my role as site manager with Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Wales two years ago, it’s an honour to have been recognised by the NHBC with a Quality Award this year.
“Not only is it a personal confidence boost to have my work acknowledged and approved by the NHBC, but it’s testament to Barratt Developments South Wales’ commitment to career development.
“I’m also very fortunate to work with an extremely hard-working team at Waterside and would like to thank them for their continued support.”
Steve Williams, Managing Director for Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes South Wales said: “Customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do, and the delivery of such high-quality new-build homes in South Wales just wouldn’t be possible without our talented site managers.
“From pre-construction planning all the way through to the completion of developments, they really are the building blocks of our developments and I’d like to personally congratulate and thank each of the winners for their continued dedication.”
All winning site managers will now enter the next round of judging, giving them the chance to win the NHBC’s prestigious Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards — winners of both of which are set to be announced in the autumn.
