‘Going for Growth’ event set to help Welsh food businesses reach new markets

Going for Growth is an exciting event for Welsh food and drink businesses to focus their attention on business growth.

The Going for Growth event will offer delegates the chance to learn more about the latest developments in the industry and gain insight into the latest industry market research data. The event will also allow delegates to explore the different routes available to market; learn more about the Growing Mid Wales agenda; take part in a trade events workshop, one to one sessions with industry experts and network with other food businesses and industry stakeholders.

The event will include a number of leading speakers in the Welsh food and drink industry including William Watkins, Managing Director at Radnor Hills; Rachel Knight, Consumer Insight Director at Kantar Worldpanel, Scott Davies, Managing Director at Hilltop Honey; Kathryn Jones, Sales Director at Castell Howell Foods; Rhodri Griffiths, Chief Regional Officer at the Welsh Government, and Neil Burchell from Menter a Busnes.

The event has been organised by a collaboration between Food Centre Wales (Ceredigion County Council), Cywain, Arwain (Powys), Cynnal y Cardi (Ceredigion), and Powys County Council. Advisers from numerous business support organisations shall also be present, including; Business Wales, Development Bank of Wales, Landsker, Lantra, Agora and Cambrian Mountains.

Commenting ahead of the event, Food Centre Wales’s Business Development Manager Arwyn Davies,

“An increasing amount of food and drink companies are looking for assistance on how they can develop their business in order to reach new markets. And with Brexit on the horizon, this event comes at a critical time for all those in the industry that want to get ahead and pursue new avenues.

We are delighted that a number of leading industry experts have agreed to take part in this event and share their knowledge.”

Attendees will also find out about the support available to them to innovate and grow through Project HELIX, delivered by Food Innovation Wales, of which Food Centre Wales is a key partner.

The Food Innovation Wales Project HELIX is a Welsh Government initiative designed to help develop the food and drink industry in Wales take advantage of the much needed funding available to help their businesses grow in the marketplace. New and existing small and medium enterprise food and drink manufacturers are able to access bespoke assistance from food technologists that is specific and tailored to the individual business.
