Foodie Heroes: Check Out Mama Fran’s Airstream for Delicious Cakes, Coffees and Ice Creams with a View Over Porthcawl

There’s an airstream creating a bit of a stir outside the Fairways Hotel in Porthcawl.  You can’t miss the shine of the stainless steel or the iconic looks of the stunning airstream – there’s often a queue outside, but there’s also been a bit of a buzz since it arrived, for all the right reasons.

And add to the mix a series of cakes, snacks and Ice Cream Creations like nothing you have seen before, with lots of seasonal specials and of course, as befits the location, outdoor seating with stunning views across the Porthcawl coastline, what’s not to love?  There’s also plenty of vegan and gluten free options.

Mama Frans is proving popular, creating a real buzz on the seafront.  We stopped for an ice cream sundae and a chat with the lovely Fran, who, as well as full of knowledge about the local area, is a bit of a gem who passionately supports local charity Lads and Dads, runs local events like ‘Dog of the Month’ and creates many of the specials herself.

Sometimes, all you need is to step outside of the hustle and bustle of daily life, treat yourself to a truly indulgent ice cream, dessert or cake and a really great cup of coffee and stop for 5 minutes to let the world go by.  In those moments, you’d be hard pressed to find a better view , better food or better company than Mama Frans.
