Further clarification issued on pandemic alcohol sales
Welsh Government has announced further clarification around the sale of alcohol at shops, hospitality businesses and licensed premises while the current coronavirus restrictions are in place.
From 6pm tonight, Thursday 24 September, pubs, cafes, restaurants and casinos will have to stop selling alcohol at 10pm, while places which sell alcohol to drink on their premises will also have to offer table service only.
All businesses licensed to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises will need to close by 10.20pm – the only exemptions on this new closing time will be places which are not licensed to sell alcohol.
Off-licenses, including supermarkets, will all have to stop selling alcohol at 10pm. This also applies to businesses which offer deliveries of alcohol through e.g. a home delivery app.
Licensed premises and off-licenses cannot begin to sell alcohol again until 6am the next day.
The Leader, Cllr Huw David, said: “I know that there have been many questions asked around this temporary measure, and I hope that the extra clarification from Welsh Government provides people with the answers they need.
“It is one of several measures that have been put in place to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, and I hope that people in communities throughout Bridgend County Borough will
Support these efforts to keep everybody safe.”
