GARDEN

This year’s garden waste collection service across Bridgend County Borough came to an end on Friday, 12 November.

After a year disrupted by Covid-19, 2021 saw a 24 per cent increase in households registered as the service began its return to normal service.

A total of 6,381 households registered this year, up from 5,133 last year, and over 1,300 tonnes of garden waste was collected for composting.

Residents will be able to register again for 2022 from 1 December ahead of collections restarting in March 2022. Existing users will receive a letter from contractors Kier in the coming weeks informing of details for next year.

Kier are also running a prize draw with 100 randomly selected residents who sign up online to receive a full refund and free service for 2022.

The Deputy Leader, Cllr Hywel Williams said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank residents who took part in the garden waste collection service this year.

“I am delighted to see the number of household using the service continuing to increase which is testament to the brilliant work that Kier do to collect and compost green waste in the county borough.”

The price for next year will remain the same at £38.91 with a concession of £34.85.
