Bank Holiday advice for residents from Carmarthenshire Council

This May we will have 3 bank holiday weekends, and Carmarthenshire has plenty to offer for people wishing to enjoy themselves.

From our beaches, museums, cycling and walking routes to our theatres, country parks and markets, to name only a few, the Discover Carmarthenshire website hosts a wide range of exciting ideas for residents and visitors alike.

This year, to mark the coronation of King Charles III, a 3-day bank holiday weekend from Saturday May 6 to Monday, May 8 will take place to provide an opportunity for communities and people to come together to celebrate the King’s Coronation.

Street Parties

If you are planning a street party, please ensure that you have all the relevant permissions and licences in place. Full information can be found on the dedicated King’s Coronation page on the Council’s website.

Please also consider:

  • Food hygiene and noise
  • If you are a community or town council, you can apply to install bunting. Remember don’t hang any items from lamppost columns or over pavements or roads.
  • Recycle as much as possible.
  • Go local with your food and drink and bring a real 100% Sir Gâr flavour to the occasion.

If you are thinking of an appropriate location to host your celebration, why not consider holding your celebration in one of the many glorious parks the County Council manage? Please respect others and remember to take away your litter.

Cllr. Gareth John, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism said: “This May, we will have three, three day, weekends and Carmarthenshire’s tourism sector is gearing to welcome people from near and far to enjoy our county.

“There are plenty of free and accessible activities on offer and I would urge everyone to visit the Discover Carmarthenshire website to find out more.”
