Grove of Narberth Wins Prestigious Independent Hotel of the Year Award at the Independent Hotel Show
Grove of Narberth, a boutique country house hotel located in the heart of Pembrokeshire, is thrilled to announce its prestigious win as the Independent Hotel of the Year at the 2024 Independent Hotel Show, held on the 15th and 16th of October in London.
This distinguished accolade underscores Grove of Narberth’s commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences, showcasing the best of Welsh hospitality, and maintaining a steadfast focus on quality. The Independent Hotel Show is a leading event for the boutique and luxury hotel sector, and the Independent Hotel of the Year Award is one of the most sought-after honours, recognising hotels that excel in guest service, innovation, and overall industry impact.
Karen de Koning, General Manager of Grove of Narberth said: “We are absolutely thrilled and deeply honoured to receive the Independent Hotel of the Year award. At Grove of Narberth, we pride ourselves on offering a uniquely personal experience, where every detail is designed to reflect the beauty of our surroundings and the warmth of our hospitality. Thank you to everyone at the Independent Hotel Show and all our guests and supporters who have voted for us, it means the world to us.”
Douglas Balish, Executive Chef of Grove of Narberth also adds: “It’s an incredible honour to see Grove of Narberth recognised as the Independent Hotel of the Year. Our approach in the kitchen has always been about showcasing the best of our local produce, and crafting dishes that celebrate the richness of the region and the seasons. This award is a reflection of the commitment and creativity of the entire team, both in the kitchen and beyond.”
Grove of Narberth was a derelict property when it was purchased by owners Neil and Zoe Kedward in 2007. Since then, it’s been transformed into a destination synonymous with relaxed luxury and authentic Welsh hospitality. Set within 26 acres of mature woodlands and gardens, and boasting 25 uniquely designed rooms and suites, the hotel offers an intimate yet stylish retreat that blends the charm of Welsh heritage with modern sophistication.
Executive Chef Douglas Balish, at the helm of the hotel’s renowned culinary offerings, oversees two restaurants, Fernery, a 4 AA Rosette fine-dining experience, and Artisan Rooms Brasserie, a relaxed dining option.
Both restaurants feature dishes inspired by seasonal produce harvested from the hotel’s 2-acre kitchen garden, ensuring a farm-to-table experience that celebrates the abundance of local Pembrokeshire ingredients.
