Visitors to Cardiff have been treated with free ice-cream lollies, tantalising toppings and spectacular sprinkles at the St David’s Lolly-Pop-Up.

The weekend-long St David’s event offered guests the chance to create the ice-cream lolly of their dreams in a purpose-built pop-up ice-cream parlour. During the free event, an incredible 1,005 ice-cream lollies were created.

Ingredients on offer at The Lolly-Pop-Up ranged from mouth-watering sweet sensations to the fantastical and downright extraordinary, allowing guests to customise their own ice-cream lolly creations. The dozens of speciality toppings included regionally-sourced Welsh cakes and laverbread, cookie dough, sweets, candy floss, edible flowers and marshmallows alongside edible insects, chilli, ginger, popcorn and Twiglets. Once decorated, the chocolate-dipped ice-cream lollies were finished off by a scrumptious choice of sauces and sprinkles including pearls, gold dust, edible diamonds and popping candy. The most popular ice-cream lolly combination was fudge, cookie dough, salted caramel pretzels, chocolate chips and Biscoff sauce.

Helen Morgan, Centre Director of St David’s Cardiff, commented: “The Lolly-Pop-Up at St David’s was our way of treating our guests and to celebrate summer together. It was a fantastic event which was vibrant, a lot of fun and incredibly popular – it was a real delight to see how much people loved it.”

Until September 11 at St David’s, guests will be able to see the stunning Lollydays installation at the shopping centre, comprising of five giant ice-lollies and over 6,000 flowers. The 40-metre-long display is suspended in mid-air above the Hayes Arcade within St David’s, overlooked by a floral selfie arch from the upper level of the Grand Arcade. Guests who snap a selfie and tag @StDavidsCardiff on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram will be entered into a competition to win £500 of shopping vouchers.
