GWR Invites Bids for Customer and Community Improvement Funding
Great Western Railway (GWR) are inviting bids to their Customer and Community Improvement Fund for the next financial year (2024/25).
The fund is now open for applications and will close on Monday 25 March 2024 (23.59).
One recent beneficiary of the project, the former Mumbles Railway trail, received over £7k from Great Western Railway’s community fund, which enabled the project to create informative station signs at 11 locations along the trail, in addition to installing information boards, posters, and murals at strategic points. QR codes have been implemented to enhance the experience, offering smartphone users access to videos, audio, and historical data.
Additionally, GWR’s financial support contributed to the creation of an Augmented Reality mobile app, which includes a feature for virtually exploring a 3D model of the Mumbles Railway train.
The Customer and Community Improvement Fund is designed to support small and medium rail-related projects that can be completed over the course of the 2024/25 financial year.
GWR are particularly interested in schemes that:
- benefit customers
- increase rail travel
- encourage carbon reduction
- connect communities, people, and places
- support economic growth
- promote inclusion and diversity
