Holy Poops! Faith in Families Swansea Launches Nappy Recycling at Three Community Cwtches

At Faith in Families Swansea, we’re all about families, futures, and forward-thinking. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce a new initiative that brings sustainability and support together in one messy, meaningful package: nappy recycling!
Thanks to an exciting partnership with Pura NappiCycle and The Multibank UK, parents across Swansea can now recycle disposable nappies and other hygiene waste at three of our Community Cwtch locations:
- Bonymaen Community Cwtch, 122 Mansel Road, Bonymaen, Swansea SA1 7JR
- Clase Community Cwtch, 1-3 Beconsview Road, Clase, Swansea, SA6 7HJ
- Teilos Community Cwtch, 62 Cheriton Crescent Portmead Swansea SA5 5LA
NOTE : Please see individual Community Cwtch Facebook Page for Days/Times of access to nappy recycling service.
Nappy Recycling | Why It Matters
Every year, a staggering 3 billion disposable nappies are thrown away in the UK, most ending up in landfills. Each one takes hundreds of years to decompose—outliving the babies they were used on! But with Pura NappiCycle, those nappies can now be repurposed into useful materials like road surfacing. That’s not just clean—it’s clever.
Pura NappiCycle already recycles over 60 million nappies a year. And now, Swansea families can be part of this change, helping to reduce waste and support a greener planet for our children.
“Thanks to the wonderful support offered by Faith in Families Swansea, the local community can now arrive at Three Community Cwtches with dirty nappies for recycling… and leave with free Pura nappies! “This community effort could reduce a lot of nappy waste, paving the way for a better future for babies and the planet. Together, we can help change the world, one dirty nappy at time.”

How It Works
Dear parents, here’s all you need to know:
- Pick Up a Purple Bag
Next time you visit your local Community Cwtch, grab a purple recycling bag. - Fill It Up
Used nappies from any brand are welcome. Got more than one little one in nappies? No problem—there’s no limit to how many nappies you can recycle. - Drop It Off
Bring your full, tied bags back to the Cwtch and place them in the dedicated NUK wheelie bins. These bins are safely stored on impermeable surfaces to prevent environmental contamination and odours. - Pick Up Free Pura Nappies
After you’ve recycled your used nappies, don’t forget to speak to a member of our team and collect your free pack of Pura nappies in sizes 3, 4 or 5. It’s our way of saying thank you for making a difference—for your baby and for the planet.
We Can Also Recycle:
- Nappy pants (any size)
- Nappy bags
- Baby wipes
- Breast pads
- Maternity pads
- Period products (pads and tampons)
- Incontinence products
Get Free Pura Nappies, Too!
Not only can you drop off your used nappies for recycling, but we also have free Pura nappies available for families. Once you’ve done your bit for the planet, pop into your local Community Cwtch and speak to a team member to collect your free nappies—no strings attached.
It’s our way of supporting you, thanking you, and helping ease the cost of baby essentials. So while you’re giving back to the Earth, we’re giving back to you.
“We’re always looking for practical ways to support families—and what’s more practical than turning stinky nappies into something useful? This isn’t just recycling, it’s reinventing what community care looks like.”
Suzanne Baker, Project Lead for Community at Faith in Families
“Let’s face it—raising a baby shouldn’t mean choosing between nappies and necessities. As more families struggle with the cost of living, our Community Cwtches are stepping up—offering not just places to stay and play, make friends and develop a support network, but also pick up the essential items every baby deserves. Together, we’re turning hardship into hope, one nappy at a time.”
Cherrie Bija, CEO of Faith in Families
Important Notes
- Please make sure all nappies are securely sealed in a tied bag before dropping them in the bin.
- The bins are for recycling only—no loose nappies or non-qualifying items, please.
- Waste transfer notes will be maintained on-site to ensure compliance and transparency.
