Holyhead Tesco makes big donations to local celebrity charity football match.

Holyhead’s Tesco Extra joined forces with Premier League legend Shay Given and other conscientious football fanatics to raise funds in aid of Brain Tumour Awareness.

The Brainchangers charity match at Bangor City FC’s Nantporth Stadium was organised and run by Holyhead Tesco employee Keane Webster.

Approximately £10,000 has been raised for the charity and 1000 tickets were sold for the game.

The teams featured Manchester United Youtuber, Mark Goldbridge and popular gaming streamer and content creator Angry Ginge.

All proceeds are being donated to the BeMoreLaura Foundation, which was created to help fund and support research specific to Glioblastoma.

The donations from Tesco and Brainchangers will allow the foundation to work alongside major brain tumour charities and research institutions to fund projects with the aim of identifying new treatments for brain cancer.

This will help the foundation go a long way in achieving its families’ mission to honour and continue the legacy of late Laura Nuttall, a 23-year-old woman who died after spending five years raising the profile of brain cancer.

Keane said: “I’m so glad that the past two events were able to happen.

“Fundraising for the BeMoreLaura Foundation has been such an honour, and I can’t thank the team at Tesco enough for all of their help and support.

“Not only were they able to help with the organisation of both events, but they also all made sure that they did all they could from a business and personal perspective, and I can never forget this.

“Brain Tumour awareness is something that needs to be shouted about for the world to know, and I will do what I can so at least everyone in the Isle of Anglesey can know about it.”

The match was the talk of the city, selling approximately 500 tickets before kick-off.

The city came together to watch teams AFS united (Another Football Saturday), and More Laura FC compete against each other.

The night ended with an attendance of over 1000 people who saw an amazing 5-5 game end in and penalty shootout, which More Laura won 5-4.

In addition to the charity game, Keane also organised a charity games night where everyone in and around Holyhead could take part in the festivities.

The Holyhead Tesco team also stepped up for the game’s night, donating a number of boozy gifts for winners to take home.
