Father’s Day is going to sneak up on you before you know it! It’s never too early to start planning an awesome day out for your dad, and here are some ideas to get you started.
Buy him a thoughtful present
Father’s Day gifts sometimes get a bad rep as either impersonal or useless tat. However, this is because too many people leave it to the last minute to shop for a Father’s Day gift, and then end up buying the first semi-suitable thing they can get their hands on! Really, there’s no reason why you can’t buy your dad a thoughtful present which he will truly cherish this Father’s Day! All you need to do is think about what your dad likes (everyone likes something) and then do a little digging to find him a present he will enjoy but doesn’t yet own. From a beer-making kit to digital drumsticks to a personalised football history book, there truly is something out there for everyone.
Take him to a show he will enjoy
The great thing about Father’s Day is that it always falls on a Sunday, which makes it a great day for family outings! If your dad is a theatre or cinema fan, the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth has to be your top choice. For a packed schedule of stand-up comedy, try the Glee Club in Cardiff. For musical theatre, it has to be the Wales Millennium Centre or the New Theatre, both in Cardiff.
Buy him tickets to a sports match
If your dad is a rugby or football fan, considering buying him a couple of tickets to the Principality Stadium, (previously known as the Millennium Stadium), in Cardiff. You can always make a day out of it and grab a meal afterwards, to either celebrate your team’s victory or commiserate their defeat!
Organise an outdoor adventure
If your dad is the adventurous type, Father’s Day is the perfect occasion to sign the whole family up for an outdoor activity. Zip World, with its four locations across Wales, offers exhilarating experiences such as freefalling, tree-hopping, mine and cave explorations and, of course, zip lines. Their location at Penrhyn Quarry, near Bangor, is possibly the most impressive, including as it does Europe’s longest zip line – which takes you over the quarry’s lake – as well as the newly launched mountain carting adventure and the opportunity to explore the quarry itself, all followed by a restorative meal at the Blondin Restaurant.
Take him out for a meal
A good restaurant meal is always a great way to celebrate a special occasion.
