Investigation work underway into potential school relocation site
Investigation work is being undertaken into a site in Brackla with a view to the relocation and extension of a Welsh-medium primary school.
The site investigation on land off Brackla Way is part of an ongoing feasibility study into whether Ysgol Gymraeg (YG) Bro Ogwr could be relocated from its existing location in Princess Way, Brackla, to the new site and extended.
Bridgend County Borough Council’s cabinet member for education Charles Smith said: “As we continue to work on the second phase of the 21st Century Schools and Colleges Modernisation Programme, we are looking to increase Welsh-medium primary provision within the county borough.
“Earlier this year cabinet members approved a feasibility study to consider the extension of YG Bro Ogwr which, due to the existing site being too small to accommodate a larger school, would mean a relocation of the school to an alternative site.
“The site which is currently the subject of a feasibility study is the council-owned land at Brackla Hill. Once the feasibility study is complete, a report will go before cabinet which will then be considered carefully before any further decision is taken.”
