The Cabinet of Bridgend County Borough Council has agreed to sell a parcel of land at the Forge Industrial Estate in Maesteg to enable an existing business to expand and employ more people.

The 448 square metre plot sits to one side of the Siderise factory, which already employs 75 staff and specialises in the manufacturing and export of high-quality insulation.

Siderise will use the plot to create an additional production space which will result in an additional 10 people being employed by the business.

Cllr Richard Young, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “I’m happy to endorse the sale of this land.

“The plot in question is relatively small and exists within a bigger open space on the industrial estate which will be retained, so the sale poses no detriment in respect of this.

“By accommodating this request, we can also support the creation of a further 10 local jobs, generate a financial receipt which could be used to support our capital programme, and ensure that the investment remains within the county borough instead of one of the company’s other UK facilities.”
