Groundbreaking takes place for Bridgend College’s new £75m town centre campus

Bridgend College has officially begun construction work on the site of its new Town Centre Campus in the heart of Bridgend.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday 17 October and was attended by Vikki Howells MS, Minister for Further and Higher Education, alongside members of the project team and representatives from Bridgend County Borough Council.

The College’s ambition is to create a net zero carbon building, with twenty-first-century learning and teaching facilities for post-16 education in Bridgend.

The development will include relocated facilities that are currently based at the College’s Cowbridge Road Campus, as well as community benefits, including a 200-seat theatre, hair and beauty salons, a coffee shop and flexible meeting spaces.

Visit the Bridgend College website to read more about the exciting project.

Recycle your leftover pumpkins

Don’t forget any pumpkins from Halloween can be recycled. Four recycled pumpkin shells could generate enough energy to power a shower for 10 minutes!

Your jack-o-lanterns can either be chopped up and placed in your food waste caddy or placed whole, next to your kerbside recycling for collection. Remove any candles or decorations first.

You can place any unused pulp or seeds in a food waste recycling bag and place in your caddy.

Please visit the council’s website for more information on waste and recycling.
