Leading Welsh Accountancy Firm Kickstarts Career for New Marketing Assistant

Wales’ largest independent accountancy firm, Bevan Buckland LLP, which is headquartered in Swansea, continues its ongoing growth with the addition of a new Marketing Assistant to its ranks. Swansea University graduate Carlos Tseng joined the practice under the government’s ‘Kickstart scheme’ and will join the firm in its move to larger offices in Llansamlet later this year.

Carlos, aged 23, who studied Law and Media, says: “After finishing my studies, I never imagined myself with an accountancy firm but this has really given me an insight into a line of work I was previously unfamiliar with. One of the reasons Bevan Buckland LLP appealed to me was how it works to keep talent local instead of letting it drift eastwards. It’s a forward-looking business which also values technology and innovation. The company creates opportunities for young people in Wales and it’s great to see so many young people working their way up here too. In Swansea, we have two universities and it is places like Bevan Buckland LLP that vastly improves prospects for graduates and student, so that’s very encouraging to see.”

Bevan Buckland LLP Partner Harri Lloyd Davies added: “We’ve enjoyed having people like Carlos who has been keen to learn and develop his career with us. Over the past few months, many more colleagues achieved their ACCA qualifications and we are welcoming a fresh intake of young people to our in-house Training Academy. It’s a really exciting time for us and we look forward to meeting all future challenges ahead”.

Mark James, Employability Programme Manager, Gower College Swansea, said: “Gower College Swansea was delighted to have the opportunity to support Bevan Buckland LLP in accessing the Kickstart scheme and to build on the extremely successful partnership we have developed in recent years which has provided invaluable employment opportunities for many young people seeking to take their first step into the world of work.”

The Kickstart Scheme was created to support 16-24 year olds struggling to find work and has thousands of high quality placements for young people. The scheme also provides support for individuals in their pursuit for longer-term work, support with CV and interview preparation as well as training to develop necessary skills in a modern workplace.

Bevan Buckland LLP has offices throughout South & West Wales, providing accountancy services, tax compliance and advisory services and other strategic advice for small to medium-sized businesses. Headquartered in Swansea, the practice has offices in Carmarthen, Pembroke, Haverfordwest and St David’s.
