Legal firm and recruiter to host free employment law events
FREE employment law seminars are being held in North Wales over the coming weeks.
Organised by Supertemps and their IT, engineering and executive brand S2 Recruitment, the legal sessions will take place on March 26 at M-SParc in Gaerwen on Anglesey, and at the OpTIC Centre, St Asaph, on April 11.
The award-winning recruitment firm – which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year – has once again teamed up with Manchester-based JMW Solicitors to deliver the seminars.
There will be a focus on all aspects of employment law, notably The Good Work Plan, which was released in December and reveals how the UK Government will implement recommendations from the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices.
JMW partner Simon Bloch (pictured) said it’s important businesses are aware of imminent changes and take advantage of the opportunity to find out more.
“The Good Work Plan sets out the UK Government’s vision for the future of the labour market so this is the right time for businesses to be thinking about how it may impact on them,” said Simon.
“Amendments to the IR35 rules will come into effect within the private sector from April 2020 and are set to see the biggest changes to how those businesses engage individuals ‘off payroll’ – which is when an individual provides their services via an intermediary, such as a personal services company (PSC).
“As part of these seminars, we propose to explain what those changes will look like and how companies can start to prepare now.”
He added: “The JMW employment team advises on all aspects of employment law and business immigration matters.”
In July 2017, Matthew Taylor published the independent Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices, which explored issues including the implications of new forms of work and working models, and the rise of digital platforms.
The review made 53 recommendations to the Government, the vast majority of which were accepted.
Sarah Ellwood, managing director of Supertemps – which has offices in Colwyn Bay, Bangor and Anglesey, encouraged business owners, HR staff and managers to come along and find out more.
“The free seminars we’ve held over the years have always been popular, but never have they come at such a crucial time for employers,” she said.
“Not only because of the current political climate, but especially in response to The Good Work Plan, which outlines many areas employers should be aware of.
“We hope people will take advantage of the chance to find out more and look forward to seeing you there.”
Supertemps is one of the leading recruitment firms in North Wales and the North West, having recently opened a new office for its executive business S2 Recruitment on Anglesey, and with plans to extend its services into north east Wales later this year.
