New-look store will be home to Cardiff’s first Philpotts concession and County Bridge Kitchen mealtime offering.

Popular SPAR Market Store in Llandaff will open its doors this week following a £500k refurbishment.

The SPAR Market store will be opened by local Paralympic legend Aled Sion Davies (pictured above) on May 3rd from 8:15am until 10:15am as part of the groups’ Disability Sport Wales partnership. Aled will be joined by children from Llandaff Primary School.

The redevelopment will host a new concept Philpotts sandwich concession selling meticulously crafted sandwiches and salads made from quality ingredients. A little taste of the Philpotts legacy for the first time in Cardiff. As well a new County Bridge Kitchen section for your go-to evening meals. The new-look store is the perfect pitstop to grab a treat, lunch or dinner to go.

Customers will also be able to enjoy freshly ground, ethically traded and deliciously roasted Philpotts coffee.

The new flagship store has County Bridge Kitchen, which is prepared on site for shoppers to cook at home later. This will be an extension of the existing County Bridge meat range, affordable delicious food for later.

The store will be teaming up with producers from across Wales and local to Llandaff, from Wrexham Lager, Samosa & Co to Lodge Farm Kitchen meals and Welsh Lady Jams.

This will also be the first fully digital SPAR store in Wales – committing to reducing cardboard by using screens and tech throughout.

The grand reopening will also showcase a ‘Spinner Winner Wheel’ for local people who attend to win prizes and money off vouchers.

SPAR Market Llandaff store manager, Mike Bircham said: “SPAR has been a proud to part of the Llandaff community a long time, therefore it will be great to celebrate the reopening with our loyal customers and special guests. We want people to come down and look at this fantastic, reimagined flagship space.

“SPAR offers great value on your doorstep in the heart of the community. We are passionate about food and supporting local suppliers in dairy, cheese, bread and beers. The new site boasts a digital first approach to reduce our carbon footprint.”

Mike added: “We are also excited to welcome our customers to try our amazing new range from Philpotts including coffee and food to go, a first in Cardiff, here in Llandaff.

“To celebrate the re-opening will be giving away free barista coffees and offering a series of foodie giveaways in our first week for local neighbours and businesses.”

SPAR will also be offering community groups, schools and universities discounts in the first week of opening, look out for flyers to get your hands on goodies.
