Local businesswoman celebrates 10 years of success

Local businesswoman and owner of X-Press Legal Services South East Wales, Steph Hector is celebrating 10 years in business- and looking forward to at least 10 more!

Since launching in 2011, Steph has grown her business to serve a number of local councils, providing specialist property and land searches to solicitors and conveyancing professionals- an essential part of any property purchase.

Steph has lived locally for over 40 years after moving from Newcastle Upon Tyne due to her dad’s work. She launched her business after working for the Welsh Government for 22 years, her last role was as a Senior Policy Manager.

After looking for a change, Steph found a perfect business opportunity in X-Press- their detailed reports and processes were similar to how she had worked previously, meaning she could put her strengths to work whilst having the flexibility and freedom of being her own boss.

Throughout the pandemic, Steph and her team have played an instrumental role in keeping the property market in South East Wales moving during the property boom. Steph and her team worked tirelessly to support their conveyancing clients throughout the Land Transaction Tax Holiday – gaining several new clients across the area.

Steph also plays a massive role in supporting her local community, holding the post of membership secretary for the Women in Property Committee for South East Wales- as well as hosting CPD events for local conveyancing professionals.

Steph comments: “I cannot believe it has been ten years since I launched my business- it has flown by! It has been a true blessing, being able to do something I enjoy, form great connections with my clients, all whilst having the freedom and flexibility of being my own boss.

“Although the past year has been manic to say the least, it has been wonderful for business- and our customer-service led business approach has meant we have welcomed a number of new firms to our client base, even receiving an award from national office recognising our growth throughout an unusual year!
