Local housebuilder successfully sells homes from home
Sales staff for a local housing developer who’ve spent the past few months working from home to help people find their ideal new houses are adjusting back to life on site again.
Throughout the lockdown, Cardiff-based Bellway Wales – which builds new homes across South Wales and Gloucestershire – continued selling new homes after its staff quickly adapted to a new style of working.
All but three members of the sales staff worked across nine of the company’s active housing developments during the lockdown period.
Senior sales advisors Rhodri Davies and Lewis Gater continued working from home during the lockdown.
Rhodri, who is based at St Lythans Park in Cardiff, said: “Working from home certainly posed a new set of challenges for us at Bellway.
“Before lockdown, our jobs revolved around providing customers with in-person house viewing experiences, so it was a challenge for us having to adapt quickly to a new way of working, but the team has coped exceptionally well with it.
“Bellway did a great job providing us with the correct tools to sell homes as close to normal as possible. We’ve had to get creative with some things too. For instance, I filmed specific plots for customers on request and sent the videos to them, as the virtual tours offered on the website are of the showhomes alone.
“The customers have been great and very understanding. Many of them were already familiar with the site layout which helps a lot, and I’ve had some lovely feedback from them throughout the current situation.
“We were able to sell three homes at St Lythans Park during lockdown, and we have now completely sold out since reopening.
“The next site I will be working at is Rhiwlas at Plasdŵr in Radyr, Cardiff. The homes there are set to launch in August, and we are really looking forward to helping more people find their dream home with Bellway.”
Lewis, 29, who is based at Heron’s Mead in Llanwern, Newport, said: “Although we’ve had limited resources over the past few months, our sales outcome has definitely beaten our expectations. It’s not been easy adapting, but it’s clear to see we’ve worked really hard.
“I think it has been easier than expected working in a smaller team, but I’ve missed everyone and I’m happy that things are becoming more normal again.
“The team here has been very forward-thinking throughout the pandemic. Bellway issued digital plan packs for each plot which really helped the sales team, and I emailed tech drawings to customers instead of offering tours.
“The first homes in Wales from Bellway’s new Artisan range are being built at Heron’s Mead, so the site has been attracting a lot of customers with its variety of high-specification homes.
“Now that the rest of the team has returned to work, we’ve noticed interest is picking back up to a normal rate again, and we’re all glad to be back in action.”
Bellway Wales is currently building new homes at developments in Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire. The housebuilder has a five-star rating from the Home Builders Federation, which means that more than nine out of ten customers said they would recommend Bellway to a friend in the HBF’s National New Homes Customer Satisfaction Survey.
