Local leisure centres reopened on Monday 3 May
Leisure centres run by Halo in Bridgend county borough have reopened this week following a relaxation of further coronavirus restrictions by Welsh Government.
All sessions must be pre-booked in order to ensure there is safe and adequate space for people to participate in their chosen activity, this includes gym and swimming sessions as well as exercise classes.
Simon Gwynne, Halo Leisure’s regional manager, said: “We are looking forward to reopening next week and welcoming back our customers. As before, we have been working diligently with UK Active, Community Leisure UK, sports governing bodies, government and health authorities to ensure Covid secure measures are in place and we will continue to do so.
“Things will look a bit different when people come back, and we know that at this time some people may have questions, so we have put together a list of answers to frequently asked questions on our website.
“In addition to sessions being needed to be pre-booked, people are being asked to bring their mask or face covering with them to the centre and wear it in reception and around the building – they do not have to wear it when exercising.
“And as before, we ask that people come ‘activity ready’ which means come ready changed so your swimming or training kit is under clothing and people shower before leaving home.
“Showers, lockers and cubicles may not be available but where they are available we are asking you to only use them if you really have to.
“Our teams will be carrying out regular cleaning and disinfection regimes throughout the day, and between bookable sessions. We are also asking all customers to help us by cleaning each piece of equipment before and after their workout.”
From Monday 3 May, public swimming, gym facilities and indoor group exercises for adults will be available while gymnastics and swimming lessons for children will restart on the week commencing 10 May. However, the pool at Bridgend Life Centre will remain closed for the next few weeks due to a refurbishment of the changing rooms.
