London Chamber Ensemble Quartet Announces 3 concerts for West Wales

London Chamber Ensemble – 3 concerts West Wales 27-30 October
The outstanding London Chamber Ensemble was founded by violinist Madeleine Mitchell as a result of a recital she gave for Lampeter Music Club at the start of her career, after which she was asked by the Vale of Glamorgan Festival to form a group for Messiaen Quartet for the End of Time, a great success, resulting in a concert for the BBC Proms and an acclaimed recording: “An all star group which manages to outdo all its; rivals” Gramophone. The London Chamber Ensemble’s recent Naxos album of Grace Williams Chamber Music was no.2 in the Classical Charts. They play the Grace Williams Rondo for Dancing in Lampeter and Aberystwyth*. They are thrilled to announce their new album of Howells & Wood Quartets – all first recordings of works written 1916-20 – released 18.10.24. They will play the beautiful quartet “In Gloucestershire” in Lampeter and Aberystwyth. CDs will be available for signing.
For the concert at Rhosygilwen Manor on Sunday 27th October, Madeleine is joined by outstanding cellist Kirsten Jenson and pianist Julian Milford – who has frequently accompanied Dame Felicity Lott. Their programme features romantic piano trios by Brahms and Dvorak – who were friends – plus the short work by Lili Boulanger, the first woman to win the coveted Prix de Rome, who died tragically young. Dinner and accomodation are also available at Rhosygilwen.
Madeleine’s grandparents were from Cardigan and she gave a concert with her cousin Gwawr Owen for the 200th anniversary of the Chapel at Glynarthen where their ancestors are buried.  She’s enjoyed giving many concerts throughout Wales, as soloist with BBCNOW, in festivals, for BBC Radio 3, for the televised BBC Wales Arts Awards and founding her Red Violin festival – Gwyll Ffidil Goch, with Lord Menuhin as Patron, staged throughout Cardiff
The concerts are supported by Arts Council of Wales Night Out Scheme – Noson Allan.
