Loveable livewire needs rural home for adventures and pest control

A young all-white cat with a passion for pests needs a home where his love of the outdoors will be fully embraced, along with his over-excitement when things are simply too much fun.

One-year-old Aetos arrived at Cats Protection North Wales after being found as a stray by a kind lady who fed him alongside her own cats. Unfortunately, Aetos does not enjoy the company of other cats and would be quick to show his displeasure if their paths crossed for too long.

Aetos loves to play and hunt, making him the ideal ball of energy for a home with plenty of land where he can roam and keep pest numbers to a minimum. He enjoys attention from the people around him and will play with fishing rod toys and sit on laps but his new owner will need to be aware of ‘cat cues’ while Aetos gradually learns to interact with less enthusiasm.

Suzan Kennedy, centre manager, says: “We all have a very soft spot for Aetos even though he can be quite unpredictable and we have to keep our wits about us at playtime to prevent being mistaken for prey ourselves!

“Aetos gets very excited and loves nothing more than to pounce and catch anything that crosses his path. At present that might be hands or toes so we have been working hard with him to teach him to redirect his enthusiasm towards toys or food.

“He is a fabulous hunter and anybody looking for an on-site pest controller who will also come for affection on his own terms would be really well-matched with Aetos. He’s a gorgeous little livewire so we need somebody who is cat-savvy who won’t be alarmed if he shows his excitement with his teeth initially!”

Aetos’s new owners will have full support of the Cats Protection Behaviour team for six months after he has been adopted. They will be able to guide as needed to find the best ways to help Aetos unlearn the less helpful habits he developed during his early and stray months so that he can quickly become settled in his new home.
