Lucky Songs – Winning The Lottery!
There is just something about music. A lot of people think music is part of the human soul. It helps us celebrate when we are happy and grieve when we are sad. It allows us to hope and dream big dreams. That explains why when the lottery is growing and people are getting excited, you will hear songs about winning the lottery.
Of course, many of these songs are quite dated. A lot of folks no longer rush down to the corner store to buy a lotto ticket these days, they do it online or on their smartphone app. For example, why get off work and go to the market to buy a lottery ticket, when you can go online and play Lottoland X5 and with one game have 5 chances to win? But, there are those who do them the old fashion way and there are some cool ways to get into them, so, let’s get into them.
Mixed Genre’
This is not something you can place on one age, style, or group of people. All types of music lovers fit into this; hard rockers, country, blues, and rappers. Everybody loves money.
This is not a new theme, they have been around a long time. Even “Ol Blue Eyes” (Frank Sinatra) had a hit lottery song back in the day. So let’s take a walk down memory lane and remember some of our favorites.

Song: Lottery Winners On Acid, 2006
This is an old song. Is it worth a listen today? Heck Yes! This is a UK classic. To be honest, this reviewer was not expecting a lot. But this is a dark yet sweet twisted absolutely original masterpiece. Lotto winners, totally in love, and wacked out of their minds. What more could you ask for.
At the total other end of the spectrum, are the oldies. The bubblegum sweet Frank Sinatra. While this was written about the lottery it is so loosely written it can be used in children’s school productions.
Song: “High Hopes” by Frank Sinatra
Frank’s song was written about a sweepstakes fan who was getting a bit down because he had not had a win for a while. The fun lyrics “just what makes that little old ant think he can move a rubber tree plant ends with “cause he has HIGH HOPES”. The song is still used today. When a lottery is won, a mega-millionaire is made, a Lottoland X5 winner is announced, “Whoops, there goes another rubber tree, whoops there goes another rubber tree, whoops there goes another rubber tree plant!
Here comes some good old country! Country music is popular everywhere and there are loyal fans all over the world. Here is a good example of some country artists keeping up the pace.
Song: Next Big Winner, by Homegrown Bang
This lottery winner song is all country. The USA’s southern charm is obvious in every word. It’s a great beat and a good song to (as they say) cut-a-rug to. The guy just got off work, and he is picking up some cold brew and hoping to place some hot bets. This is a feel-good and “take a chance tune” for sure.
Rappers have always been the kings of singers about money. If there is a source for money, they will have music for it. So, it should come as no surprise to find a lot of music on the rapper’s hits list about winning the lottery.
Song: Put That On My Hood, by Bow Wow (formerly known as Lil’ Bow Wow)
This is an upbeat song that is all about hitting the lotto and getting rich. It is fun and makes you dream big and feel like you could walk away a millionaire. The twist is, it is all about keeping it real. Bow Wow is singing about keeping the money in the “hood” and of course, he has lots of support with that idea.
Song: Free Money, by Patti Smith
This real-life song was written by Patti for her mother. Patti’s mother had a dream of winning the lottery that was constant, She had several sickly children, and the expense of caring for them kept her financially strained. She had a habit that brought her joy. Every night she would make a list of what she would buy if she were to win the lottery. The children had to find as much fun in the game as mom did. Patti put words to the song and it is still a favorite lottery song many years later.
So much of our fantasy can become our reality. Music, dreams, open pages of tomorrow, and lotteries. They are real, and they could really be ours. Just keep singing.
