Major Refurbishment Works Underway at Loggerheads Country Park

Loggerheads

Enhancement works are now underway at Loggerheads Country Park, one of the main gateways to the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape.

The project follows the completion of flood defence measures earlier this year and forms part of a wider £10.95 million UK Government grant package announced in 2023. The funding, dedicated exclusively to 10 capital projects in Clwyd West, aims to protect the region’s unique heritage, improve community wellbeing, and support rural areas.

At Loggerheads, the upgrades will see a full refurbishment of the visitor centre and café, improvements to toilet facilities, and significant landscaping work. Sustainability is also at the heart of the scheme, with solar panels set to be installed to help reduce the park’s environmental footprint.

The works, awarded to ParkCity Multitrade Ltd of St Asaph, are scheduled to run from mid-August until early March 2026. While construction is underway, the park will remain open to visitors. Temporary toilets, a pop-up catering venue showcasing produce from north east Wales, and dedicated visitor information points will be available during the refurbishment.

Councillor Jason McLellan, Council Leader and Lead Member for Economic Growth and Tackling Deprivation, said:

“We have seen an increase in visitor numbers at Loggerheads Country Park in recent years and projects such as these, once completed, will help future proof the park and meet the ever-increasing expectations of visitors.

“These sites are much loved National Landscape areas, and it is important that we continue to maintain and develop sites such as these as their popularity grows to ensure that they can continue to be enjoyed by all who visit.”
