Married couple celebrate a decade working together at local opticians

A MARRIED couple are celebrating a joint work anniversary as they both mark 10 years working together at Cardigan’s Specsavers store.

Sian Parry-Jones and James Jones, who got married in September last year and who are soon to embark on their honeymoon, are being honoured by work colleagues for their long service.

Mrs Parry-Jones started as an optical assistant and has worked her way up to her current role as an in-store trainer. She has a Cert 3 qualification in clinical tech – an externally accredited programme which takes nine months to complete – resulting in a BTEC Level 3 Certificate in optical dispensing. She is also advanced in OCT (optical coherence technology) scanning and acts as a store supervisor.

Mr Jones also started as an optical assistant before progressing to lab technician and now store manager. He is a fully qualified dispensing optician and is now undertaking a degree to become a contact lens optician.

Before working at Specsavers, Mr Jones worked in IT and Mrs Parry-Jones worked at Peacocks clothes store as a sales assistant. The couple, who met at the Cardigan store, have two children, aged six and three.

Colleagues presented the couple with gift vouchers and certificates to mark the milestone.

Heledd Hallett, optometrists and store director at Specsavers Cardigan, said: “Our team would like to offer our huge congratulations to both Sian and James as they celebrate this anniversary.

“They should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved so far in their careers at Specsavers. Throughout their time at the Cardigan store, both Sian and James have brought boundless energy and enthusiasm to our team and have remained committed to providing an excellent level of care for our customers.

“We hope they have a wonderful honeymoon and look forward to welcoming them back.”
