Mick Antoniw, the Member of the Welsh Assembly (MS) for Pontypridd, Praises Cardiff-based Safety and Risk Management Company Alcumus as a “Welsh Success Story”
Mick Antoniw, the Member of the Welsh Assembly (MS) for Pontypridd, visited Alcumus, the UK’s leading provider of technology-led risk management solutions at its Cardiff headquarters on Friday 11 June.
The Assembly Member, who holds the role of Counsel General and Minister for the Constitution in the Welsh Government, met with Alcumus CEO Alyn Franklin for a briefing on the company’s operations and the way it uses data insights and expertise to build safer and more sustainable workplaces.
Alcumus provides technology-led compliance and risk management solutions designed to create better workplaces and keep people safe. Alcumus serves more than 40,000 companies across the UK and over 5,000 businesses in North America, employs over 600 people at its offices in Nantgarw, Manchester and Stratford upon Avon, as well as another 145 in Toronto, Canada.
During the visit, Alyn briefed the Minister about the recent expansion of the Alcumus business into North America and talked thorough some of the challenges faced by many employers in Wales. The session included discussions on the availability of talent when hiring locally, the need for greater investment to increase the number of highly-skilled STEM graduates at Welsh universities, and the importance of better domestic and international transport links.
Speaking after the visit, Mick Antoniw MS said: “It was great to meet Alyn and the team at Nantgarw to hear about the great work that Alcumus is doing in the technology-led risk-management sector. Not only are they providing high-quality jobs for local people in the tech sector, but they are also a beacon for Wales as a great place to work and do business. Alcumus really are a Welsh success story.”
