While Black Friday is the perfect opportunity to stock up on discounted gifts for yourself and family members, the day is also tailored to treating the furry friends in your lives.
More than a quarter (26%) of Black Friday shoppers living in Wales buy for their pets on the popular sale shopping day, a recent study by MyVoucherCodes has revealed.*
The next most popular region where shoppers like to use the annual sales day to buy for their pets is the North East with 22%. The third is the Yorkshire and the Humberside area with 20%. The least bothered about treating their four-legged friends are those living in the South West, with just 7% shopping for their pets on Black Friday.
People in Wales are also the most generous when it comes to buying for their partners, with 59% of shoppers purchasing gifts for their partner.
Meanwhile, those living in London are the most self-indulgent, with 74% of Black Friday shoppers treating themselves on the discounted shopping day. And when it comes to buying for relatives and family, people from Northern Ireland are the most generous, with 80% of Black Friday shoppers splurging on friends and family.
Shopping expert Sarah-Jane Outten from MyVoucherCodes says, “These results show Black Friday isn’t only a shopping experience for the humans in your life, it’s a great excuse to treat your four-legged friends, too. Here are five top tips to get the most out of shopping for your pet on November 29th.
  1. Sign up to newsletters from pet retailers: Be the first to hear about discount days and links by ensuring you’re on the marketing list of your favourite pet stores. It could be handy to create a new email address to receive these deals so that they don’t get lost in the midst of your busy inbox. Signing up to the newsletters is a simple and effective way to get the right price for the goodies you want for your pet.

  2. Look for pet price drops: Slashed prices on dog food, treats, toys, and grooming supplies at pet stores and online retailers often happen around Black Friday. Sites including Pets at Home, Petco and Amazon regularly roll out exclusive Black Friday deals, but also make sure you search for discount codes on sites such as MyVoucherCodes and CamelCamelCamel to get the most for your money.

  3. Swot up on pet tech: Smart pet cameras, automatic feeders, GPS trackers and pet fitness trackers continue to grow in popularity among pet parents. These innovative gadgets are a handy way of keeping an eye on your pet’s habits and routines to make sure they’re keeping as safe as possible, but can also offer an element of entertainment.

  4. Research pet subscription boxes: Keep an eye out for pet-themed subscription box services. Black Friday often offers discounted rates on these monthly packages filled with fab toys, treats, and goodies tailored exclusively for your furry one.

  5. Create a wish list: It’s easy to think that your pet could benefit from something in particular one moment and then forget it the next. So pop them into an online wish list tool such as Mywishlist or Moonsift so you have all their lovely gift ideas all in one place.
