Neath Port Talbot Adult Learning in the Community Reaches Out During Adult Learners’ Week
In celebration of Adult Learners’ Week 2022, the team from Neath Port Talbot Adult Learning in the Community is raising awareness of its vast array of courses for adults of all ages and abilities.
The team will be on hand at Aberafan Shopping Centre in Port Talbot on Monday-Friday (17th – 21st October) this week to meet members of the public and provide information about Neath Port Talbot Adult Learning in the Community and its range of free and subsidised courses.
The team is also facilitating a ‘Talk to Us’ session on Tuesday 18th October from 10am-12pm where there will be an open phone line on 01639 686306 for anyone interested in finding out more about GSCE and A-Level courses.
Adult Learners Week shines a light on the benefits of lifelong learning, whether in upskilling for a new job role, revisiting subject areas that were previously covered in school or learning something entirely new for your health and wellbeing.
Neath Port Talbot Council has a very active Adult Learning in the Community service which offers more than 100 courses ranging from GCSE’s and A-Levels through to Work Skills and Additional Learning Needs courses. Delivered both in person and online at times that are convenient for learners, Neath Port Talbot Adult Learning in the Community can also provide support for learners with additional needs including offering exam support and one to one assistance.
Nia Jenkins, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Training said: “We want to encourage adults who are interested in learning more about the education opportunities open to them to visit the team in Aberafan Shopping Centre this week. Whether you struggled to learn in a traditional school setting and would like to revisit GCSEs and A-Levels or perhaps you’re looking to improve your mental health by learning new skills, we have something for everyone.
“Many of our courses are offered free of charge or are heavily subsidised and we also offer a flexible approach to learning with classes taking place throughout the day and evening, both online and face to face at locations throughout Neath and Port Talbot. Our tutors create a supportive community which has seen thousands of adults gain qualifications in areas as diverse as Deaf Awareness and Digital Skills. We also offer courses that aid a route into the workplace including CV building and Essential Literacy and Numeracy Skills.
“Adult Learners’ Week is a great opportunity to get talking about the benefits of lifelong learning. Find us in Aberafan Shopping Centre to learn more.”
